How to apply to a faction.

First of all, look for the template for the application. This is the most obvious step, but is sometimes overlooked. The template will be located in the subforum of the faction. Copy/Paste this into your topic and have fun.

Second, find your Steam ID. Google is your friend here. Also, make sure you have no typos in this step, it can spell disaster for your application.

Third, check the Half-Life lore. Research on the wiki about how your faction would act, any important references, as well as behaviors and common actions. These can be your lifesaver or your downfall. Regardless on how much you know about the faction, do this anyway, it never hurts to get a refresher.

Fourth, spend about 10-15 minutes planning your backstory. It has to be coherent and canon. If not, you will be denied, and you will cry.

This is important; No one wants to be the normal guy, but don't puff your character up to godly proportions. It would be stupid if everyone was a professional killer, no one would have fun. Make yourself stand out, but not too much. Say your character is good with people, rather than someone who can persuade anyone to their side.

Fifth, make sure to re-read your application, for any spelling errors or grammatical snafu's.

Then, and this is the most important step;

SHUT UP ABOUT IT! Your application WILL be reviewed eventually, so stop asking. Everyone who has been accepted before can tell you that it is a terrible nerve wracking process, but patience is the ultimate virtue. There are people who's duty is to review them and accept/deny them. They will get to it as soon as they can. If you feel unsure about the quality of your application, check out some of the accepted ones, and a few of the denied ones. This will allow you to learn from other people's mistakes, as well as their successes. Its the worst feeling to have to re-apply after being denied.

Yes! That annoys me the most about people's apps. Good guide, people should use it. For anyone who doesn't know how to do it. People also shouldn't bump their apps. They will be reviewed soon enough.
